Grieving for the Oklahoma Tornado VictimsThe shock of major events, such as the Oklahoma tornado or the Boston bombing, can be overwhelming, even when we are miles away from the event. The anger, shock, grief we feel for our fellow humans rock our boat like great waves on the ocean. Those waves are actually huge emotional energy surges, and they well up within us because we don’t know how to wrap ourselves around what has happened. The event is just too big to comprehend.

Dr. Deepak Chopra suggests that at such times you focus your attention on your heart and just be with what you’re feeling. That change of focus from feeling to observing helps de-fuse the energy and gives you a little bit of separation from it so you can think more clearly.

The mind is not going to be of any real help at times of great crisis. The mind looks in the wrong direction. It wants to change what’s out there, but that isn’t where the solution is. Accepting the situation for what it is allows you to open up to the greater power that is always there waiting to help you.

You see, there is a wisdom within you which is more than capable of guiding you and helping you. So just know – there is That within you which has the power to sustain you, no matter what.
